Nee Thane En Ponvasantham is a 2012 Tamil film, written and directed by Ezhil. The film stars Silambarasan, Vaibhav Reddy, Oviya and Andrea Jeremiah in the leading roles.The movie was released on 13 November 2012 to positive reviews from the critics. It was both a commercial success as well as won critical acclaim. The film has grossed over ₹35 crores at the box office minus publicity costs. It was remade in Telugu as Rudramadevi with Naga Chaitanya playing Silambarasan's character and it released on 12 March 2014 to positive reviews from critics. It was subsequently remade in Kannada as "Manali Mogudu" with Darshan.The movie starts with a song by Raashi Khanna which is also the title song of the film.Aakash (Silambarasan) who works at a chemical factory belongs to an average family. He lives with his mother Radha (Janani Iyer) and younger sister Priya (Anuja Verma). His father is disconnected from them after his wife's death. Aakash has no friends in college except Pramod (Vaibhav Reddy) and Vinayagam (Krishna). He falls in love with Raghavi (Andrea Jeremiah) after he saves her from a drunkard. Aakash's family gets to know about his relationship with Raghavi. They object to his relationship as they are from different castes. Aakash's father asks him to stop all ties with Raghavi or leave the house. He asks him to choose between Raghavi and his family, but Aakash chooses not to leave home. So his father kicks him out of the house and he stays at Pramod's place. Aakash starts living with Pramod and Vinayagam.After a few days, Raghavi, who is in love with Aakash also joins the same hostel. Raghavi gets close to Aakash and impresses him by doing all his chores. She transfers her college to the same college where Pramod and Aakash study. One day when Raghavi offers to make tea for Aakash, she loses her ring in the process. When she gets up after making tea, she finds out that it was missing and accuses Aakash of stealing it. But he shows her his hands which are clean (he had worn gloves while taking the ring). Aakash suggests her to search for it. During the search, Aakash finds that Raghavi had lost it inside his bag. Raghavi apologizes to him and they become friends again.After many days, Aakash, Pramod and Vinayagam are attacked by some goons in the college hostel. The incident gets known in the college and Aakash becomes a hero among students. Later, students from various other colleges also come to attack Pramod and Vinayagam in support of their friends who got attacked by them. So their principal orders them not to enter college for a month till the exams are over.
